About us - MFG Studios
The Studio
My First Gorilla Studios was formed in mid-2005 by John Chillemi, Tim Colwill, Jeremy Dixon and Felix Wai, students in their third year of Games Technology degrees at Murdoch University. Since then they have been developing some of the university’s most notable and acclaimed games, including the surprise hit Pissweak, the unforgettable Flamer and soon to be released, the first large-scale project for the team, Crystal Wars.
In addition to making their own games, when they have time to relax My First Gorilla Studios are given to indulging in their own gaming, with regular clan-based online matches in many of Valve’s acclaimed first-person shooters as well as World of Warcraft and City of Villains. They are also likely to be found facing off over a game of Super Smash Bros. Melee or the hectic battlefields of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000, and anxiously await the release of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.
Frequently Asked Questions...
What does My First Gorilla Studios mean?
The name “My First Gorilla” had a two-fold meaning. The first represents the nature of this group endeavour in terms of size, scope and importance, as being the first large project undertaken as a team. The second meaning is far more complex, and involves gorillas riding small coloured bicycles.
Hey, why is your gorilla blue?
Funny story, that.
What do you guys hope to do from here?
As a studio, My First Gorilla plans to update and bring to life its old proof-of-concept games developed whilst at Murdoch into a new, more professional era thanks to our recent acquisition of the Torque Game Engine. As a team, we hope to be able to continue to increase our understanding and experience with the game design and development process, and hone our skills to a professional level while retaining the creative, innovative focus that has become our hallmark.
I’m so morbidly intrigued! Where can I find out more?
